Hi Jennifer, Ticks are an unfortunate reality in our area, but there is good news: the majority of ticks at the James Farm are either wood or lone star ticks (which do not transmit lyme disease). If you spend time in the woods during the spring and summer months, it's not a bad idea to do a "tick check" when you get home. But don't let these little fellas deter you, just remember to stay on the maintained trails, and wear bug spray and consider wearing long pants tucked into your socks. And if you do happen to find one on you, simply remove it using a safe and approved method as the CDC recommends. (Sorry, I can't provide the direct link in this post).
