There are a few parking lots just prior to the park. It costs $6 for covered parking. Not all spaces within the lot are fully covered. It costs USD$6+IVA per person to get in the park. My credit …Full review by stevensT5103FP

Q:
Are there lockers to put your stuff in while you are at the beach?
A:
Not provided by the park. There might be businesses outside that provide you that service, but it’s generally better to leave your things in your car, and your car parked in a paid parking.

I lived in Costa Rica for 2 years back in the 90’s and I return every 2 years. I know just about every square inch of the country by now. My best advice: 1. Keep it authentic. CR is full of charming small lodges/BnBs for every budget. Steer clear of any all inclusives or any beach towns that have all inclusives. 2. Know you can’t do it all and it takes a long time to drive from one area to another. For a one week trip, pick 2 areas to explore. 3. I advise against some of the over touristy spots. Manuel Antonio is completely overrun and frankly it’s really too bad. It’s an example of what happens when a place gets too popular. Jaco was always a dump even back in the 90’s and I have no idea why anyone ever went there other than it’s fast to get to from San Jose. Monteverde is very hard to get to and totally overrun with tourists (see below for much better cloud forest options). My pick for best of everything that CR has to offer is the Uvita-Ohochal area. Outstanding beaches, waterfalls galore, wildlife and birds galore (you won’t get all the species of monkeys, nor any sloths or toucans in Guanacaste!). There’s zip lining not far, a great boat tour in the mangroves in Palmar Sur filled wildlife sightings not, too far. Rio Tico lodge is a fun place to base your adventure in this area. They are lovely furnished tents in the jungle above a beautiful river. You will have to rent a 4x4 for this area. Use Vamos rent a car. A logical 2nd area to discover is either San Gerardo De Rivas-Chirripo or San Gerardo de Dota for a cloud forest experience away from the crowds. You will have a much much better chance of seeing quetzals here. Always hire a birding-wildlife guide for a morning. you will miss so much with out one. And although birding sounds dorky your teenagers will be blown away and amazed at what they see. And with teenagers you should really check out Rios Tropicales overnight stay on the Pacuare white water rafting. It’s a gorgeous and fun adventure not to be missed with very professional-guides (unless that sort of thing scares you). Good luck and enjoy.
