Petrov is located about 11 kilometres east of Hodonín and 58 km southeast of Brno. It lies in a flat landscape of the Lower Morava Valley. The Radějovka Stream and the Baťa Canal flow through the municipality. The Kyjovka River flows west of the town and supplies several fishponds.
