This spot is very iconic in movies. It’s where Sally dropped off Harry after college. Beautiful spot, tree in front was not decorated or lit today. Full review by pattie1113

Washington Square Park has a great vibe! There’s always something going on dancers, musicians, or random performances. I grabbed a spot near the fountain and spent some time people-watching. It’s a c… Full review by Derek A

Hi. I've read there are a lot of people with dogs and I haven't seen dogs wearing muzzles in the pictures... Please, tell me if it's true and if the park is dangerous that way? Thank you.

The dogs are all on leashes and not threatening at all.
Hi - just wondering if there were opening/closing times where access was restricted ot the park, per the "The Big Apple Guide" on the TA travel guide sections, it states 9am-9pm for Washington Square park? Or is it an all hours park? Given it is open air, and therefore no theoretical lines would any day be advisable to go? Or is there particular days where it is nicer to enjoy the park and/or other special aspects, people watching etc? Will be a first time visit to NYC! :)

Sometimes travel guides were written by those whom may have NOT been to the places they've written about. Washington Sqr Park does not close. It is a public walk through area just like the NYC streets. This "park" also is a part of NYU (New York University) campus. The dog park "do" close but the rest of the park is fully open just like any other streets of NYC. The locals just walk their dogs outside of the closed dog pen in the after hours. Do be careful in the early am hours just like any places you go in any city. I grew up in this park, just meet and mingle with the locals and lots out of the town visitors. Have fun and do your selfies. Day pix are great in September with beautiful blue sky and spring time are filled with flowers. Night pix need a good low light camera and hey look for WTC skyline from this park and do your best pix. NEVER leave your belongings unattended as always, ANYWHERE on the planet~!
