A judge Friday paused the removal of eight migrants currently detained in Djibouti, setting off a race against time before they were scheduled to be sent to South Sudan.

After the Supreme Court ruled that the deportations could move forward, the migrants filed a new lawsuit, challenging their transfer on other grounds.

The conservative-leaning Supreme Court has allowed the United States to deport eight migrants being held at a military base in Djibouti to war-torn South Sudan.
