The scene on Saturday afternoon in Austin was a grim one for the Gator Nation as their beloved Florida football team took a pounding at the hands of the Texas Longhorns in the latter's first year in the Southeastern Conference.

Author Chris Vannini dropped the Gators three spots from No. 51 last week to No. 54 after the loss to the Longhorns. That puts Florida between the No. 53 North Carolina Tar Heels and No. 55 Michigan State Spartans — the two schools that bookended them in last week’s re-rank.

The Longhorns are third in the second College Football Rankings but still have three SEC games remaining, including at Arkansas and Texas A&M.
