Rescue boats were used to evacuate an elementary school in Allegany County, Maryland Tuesday as heavy rains brought flooding to the region, the county’s emergency services department said.

Flood warnings remained in place from the National Weather Service (NWS) across parts of the three states as of early Wednesday.

Forecasters warned of flash flooding through midweek, including areas of North Carolina still battered by Hurricane Helene.
