A super PAC supporting former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the New York mayoral election is running a late ad that depicts Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani in front of video of the Twin Towers crashing down on 9/11.

A socialist of Indian descent who was born in Uganda, Mamdani has built his campaign on making New York more affordable for the people who live and work there, with promises of a rent freeze, free buses and free universal child care.

Mamdani has gained national attention over his progressive policies, earning support from the likes of Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders.
