A global supplier of automotive turbocharging systems has turned to DuPont Co.'s Vespel polyimide to improve the performance of its pneumatic wastegate actuators in many turbocharger applications.
The Tonawanda plant will join a specialty products company, still under the DuPont name, that will separate by June 2019. While Ledesma is a newcomer to DuPont, he has built a career in manufacturing.
DuPont Co. is expanding capacity for its Vespel-brand polyimide resin by 50 percent at a plant in Circleville, Ohio. The expansion calls for a new building and machinery, a DuPont spokesman said.
