Communities in and around Charlotte are kicking off Independence Day celebrations early with fireworks and festivities planned for tonight.

Newport on the Levee launched Independence Day celebrations a day early, drawing crowds along the Ohio River for a night of festivities.

Marble Hill’s Independence Day Celebration will start at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 3. The festivities will include food trucks, vendors, bounce houses, yard games and fireworks starting at approximately 9 p.m. The Perry Park Center in Perryville will host an Independence Day fireworks display on Thursday, July 3 from 9 p.m. until 10 p.m.

If you’re one of the millions celebrating July 4th, you will be glad to know Walmart is open. Walmart stores will be open regular hours - typically 6 a.m.-11 p.m. for Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets. Some services may be limited on the holiday, however, so it’s always best to check ahead.

The Fourth of July, also known as US Independence Day, is one of the biggest national celebrations in the United States.
