Knox News visual journalists braced Knoxville's first snowfall of the season Jan. 10 to capture winter magic across East Tennessee.

TEMA said people should expect road conditions to remain bad through the rest of the night. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing during the day this weekend, but that will create the risk of snow melt refreezing and turning to ice on the roads, particularly roads with a lot of trees and shade, and rural back roads.

Friday's snowstorm is expected to bring around six inches of snow to Knoxville, significantly impacting traffic in the region.

Wintry conditions led to 118 reported crashes across East Tennessee, according to a recent release by the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

Flurries are forecast to start falling in East Tennessee late Friday morning through the early afternoon, depending on the city. The storm will continue through Friday afternoon and night. Due to the storm, East Tennessee will accumulate between 3-6 inches of fresh snow.

After a winter storm moved through and dumped several inches of snow across East Tennessee, state agencies are now warning about the possibility of roadways becoming dangerous. Mark Nagi with the Tennessee Department of Transportation said crews will add to the mixture used on roads to help lower the freezing point.
