Israel’s army has confirmed that one of the bodies recovered from Gaza earlier this week was that of 23-year-old hostage Hamzah AlZayadni.

Bodies of both Yosef and Hamzah were recovered on January 8. While that of Yosef was identified on January 8, the same of Hamzah’s was identified on January 10.

Israel's army confirmed Friday that one of the bodies recovered from Gaza earlier this week was that of 23-year-old hostage Hamzah AlZayadni.

The bodies of around three dozen hostages have been recovered in Gaza and eight hostages have been rescued by the army.

Israel confirmed that a hostage found killed in Gaza was Hamza Ziyadne, the son of another hostage, Youssef Ziyadne, found dead alongside him in an underground tunnel near the southern city of Rafah.

The body of Youssef Ziyadne, and possibly that of his son, was found after a "complex and difficult operation," an official said.

Hamzah AlZaydani's body was retrieved with that of his father, Yosef AlZaydani, who were taken together by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023.
