After two seasons coaching the Cardinals’ defensive linemen, Derrick LeBlanc will not return to the coaching staff.

Virginia Tech has hired Sam Siefkes as defensive coordinator after he spent the last two seasons as the Arizona Cardinals’ linebackers coach.

The New York Jets have hired Steve Wilks as the team’s new defensive coordinator, according to ESPN. Wilks, who served in the same role at the San Francisco 49ers in 2023, replaces Jeff Ulbrich, who was the Jets defensive coordinator from 2021 to 2024.

The team has reportedly tabbed veteran, longtime NFL coach and coordinator Steve Wilks as the DC for Glenn’s coaching staff, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero: The #Jets have agreed to terms with Steve Wilks as their defensive coordinator, per sources.

Wilks, who replaces Jeff Ulbrich as the Jets’ defensive coordinator, also has head coaching experience. He was Arizona’s coach in 2018 and was fired after the Cardinals finished 3-13. Wilks also was Carolina’s interim coach when he replaced the fired Matt Rhule in 2022 and went 6-6 with the Panthers.

Glenn was hired as the next head coach of the Jets earlier this month after a four-year run as the Detroit Lions’ defensive coordinator. The Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh in the middle of last season. Glenn said earlier this week that he will not call defensive plays, so that will presumably fall to Wilks.

Sam Siefkes also is a former Wofford and Wisconsin-Platteville defensive coordinator, and he worked as a quality control coach for the Minnesota Vikings.
