Search for new Seahawks offensive coordinator widens
Mike Macdonald brought Frazier in as an assistant head coach to help lead the Seahawks' staff following the change in leadership from Pete Carroll. Frazier has been in the NFL as a coach for over 25 years, including several years as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings.
Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald is going through the process of appointing a new offensive coordinator after relieving Ryan Grubb of his duties. Thus far, Macdonald has identified, at least publicly, three candidates. They are Hank Fraley (Lions OL coach), Klint Kubiak (Saints OC), and Thomas Brown (Bears interim HC).
The Dallas Cowboys officially decided to move on from head coach Mike McCarthy, whose contract with the organization was up. After weighing McCarthy’s future, owner Jerry Jones ultimately opted not to renew his deal.
Former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is clearly showing a desire to return to coaching. In late December it was announced Carroll was interested in the Bears’ top job, and he even recently completed an interview with Chicago. Now, there is another team inquiring about Carroll’s potential services.
The Seahawks are getting another look at Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kuibiak. According to a Thursday morning report by NFL Network, Seattle is bringing him in for a second interview, which will be in-person.
Overall, McCarthy leaves the Cowboys after earning a 50-36 record (playoffs included), three postseason appearances, two NFC East titles, and one lone Wild Card win – albeit over Tom Brady’s Buccaneers in his last game ever.
Two weeks ago, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that McCarthy "could set his sights on Chicago." It was apparently mutual after the Bears requested an interview with McCarthy while he was still under contract by the Cowboys, who denied the request. After Dallas and McCarthy decided to part ways, it didn't take long for Chicago to set up an interview.
