Much of New England saw the first “warm” day on Sunday after a brief cold snap and nearly a week of below average temperatures. The work week ahead will start with temperatures staying at or slightly above average with two weak storm systems passing through New England starting Tuesday, bringing some light snow showers.

The Boston area shook from a rare, but minor, earthquake Monday morning. The U.S. Geological Survey rated the shaking as a magnitude 3.9, downgraded from the initial magnitude of 4.1. It was centered off the coast of New Hampshire and Maine in York Harbor, about 12 miles underground.

BOSTON — A jury acquitted New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers on Friday in his assault and battery trial. Peppers finished testifying earlier Friday by denying he choked or shoved his accuser. Peppers, who first took the witness stand on Thursday, had been on trial this week on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
