Mufasa: The Lion King reveals that one of the core beliefs of the titular hero actually took inspiration from the motivations of a dangerous villain.

I saw The Lion King the year it was released in 1994. Sadly, I did not have the pleasure of seeing it on the big screen, but watching it on a video cassette was no less enthralling. The story of Mufasa being betrayed and killed by his brother Scar who then was defeated years later by Mufasa’s son Simba left me in awe.

Mufasa: The Lion King” is an odd movie. Realistic-looking lions, warthogs, meerkats and whatever break into song repeatedly. It’s like a curious fever dream that doesn’t want to go away.
