Michigan State announced on Tuesday that they are launching a new $1 billion initiative dubbed FOR SPARTA to elevate facilities, enhance the student-athlete experience and "secure Michigan State's position as a leader in college athletics." The initiative was formerly announced via a social media post and press release from the school on Tuesday.

Hours after he was formally introduced, Fitzgerald attended the Spartans’ Big Ten basketball opener against Iowa.

Publicly launched in 2025, the Uncommon Will. Far Better World campaign is expected to run until 2032. FOR SPARTA follows a similar timeline. Including the campaign planning phase (since 2022), MSU Athletics has already totaled nearly $250 million towards its $1 billion goal.

Michigan State football took down Maryland in Detroit on Saturday night, ending an eight game losing streak and taking home a 38-28 win. A big part of that win was the big plays of the Spartans defense when they mattered most, especially the defensive backs.
