Rupee Closes At Fresh Record Low, Worst Asian Currency So Far In 2025
Indian Rupee closed 10 paise lower at 89.56 against US Dollar on Monday becoming the worst performing currency in Asian peers on a year-to-date basis. The Indian currency has fallen 4.6% year-to-date. Intraday, it hit a record low of 89.90 a dollar.
The rupee hit the psychological 90-a-dollar level in intraday trade before settling 42 paise down at an all-time low of 89.95 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday, largely owing to continued short-covering from speculators and sustained importer demand for the American currency.
