Cisco is laying off more than 800 workers in the Bay Area, according to WARN documents. The layoffs will slam San Jose, Milpitas and San Francisco offices.

Cisco Systems, Inc. will be laying off hundreds of employees in the Bay Area, according to state filings with the Employment Development Department. The job cuts will impact 134 employees at the tech giant’s San Francisco office at 500 Terry A.

Venerable tech giants Cisco and IBM are together laying off nearly 200 people in San Francisco as part of broader job cuts. By itself, San Jose-based Cisco is letting go 134 people in The City, a company representative said in a letter made public Thursday.

Cisco’s current round of layoffs will impact about 6,000 jobs as the company looks to sharpen its focus on AI networking, security and collaboration.
