SAN DIEGO, California — A student pledging a fraternity at San Diego State University suffered serious burns when he was set on fire during a “skit” and now four members of the fraternity are facing criminal charges, prosecutors say.

Prosecutors said that a skit last year left a San Diego State University student with third-degree burns over 16 percent of his body.

The president and three members of a San Diego State University fraternity were slapped with charges after one of them was intentionally set on fire during a pre-planned skit at a party last year, California prosecutors said.

After Larsen wound up in the hospital with severe burns, he, Cooper and Cowling tried to cover up the incident, the prosecutor’s office said.

The defendants, who were active members of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, allegedly hosted a party at their fraternity house on Feb. 17 of last year.
