The Oklahoma Sooners received more good news on Monday afternoon as a big piece of their defense is returning for 2025. Oklahoma's best pass rusher, R Mason Thomas, announced on social media that he's returning for the 2025 season.

One of Oklahoma State’s top defenders in the portal is staying in the state. On Monday, Hayes Fawcett of On3 reported that transfer safety Kendal Daniels has committed to Oklahoma. Daniels spent the first four seasons of his career at OSU and was a staple of the Cowboys' defense throughout the past three years.

LSU defensive lineman Kimo Makane'ole is entering the transfer portal, according to a report Friday from 247Sports. Makane'ole made one tackle in 10 games as a backup this season. He has one more year of eligibility.

Defensive back Mykel Patterson-McDonald will enter the transfer portal, per Collin Kennedy of 247 Sports. Patterson-McDonald was a freshman in 2024. Patterson-McDonald is a native of Moore, OK, who came to Norman with high expectations.

Oklahoma will have Robert Spears-Jennings and Peyton Bowen leading the position in 2025. Patterson-McDonald was a part of a 2024 recruiting class that saw the Sooners also bring in Michael Boganowski, Jaydan Hardy, and Reggie Powers III. In the 2025 recruiting class, the Sooners added Omarion Robinson and Marcus Wimberly to their deep safety room.
