The first migrant caravan of 2025 is marching from Mexico toward the US, with its 2,000 members hoping to rush the border before President-elect Donald Trump takes office. More such massive groups are also expected to make haste before the Jan.

The flags will be lowered on Jan. 20 to honor late former President Jimmy Carter.

A new caravan of migrants has begun walking north toward the U.S. border from southern Mexico. It started out on Thursday from the city of Tapachula, near the border with Guatemala.

Since last month’s US presidential election, five migrant caravans have formed in southern Mexico. The region is facing a new influx of migrants. While some attempt to cross Mexico on their own, others prefer to wait for appointments with American migration agents.
