The Minnesota Timberwolves lost an eight-point lead in the final 50 seconds Friday night in Phoenix during a 114-113 NBA Cup loss to the upstart Suns. They lost something else over the final minute and a half, too, according to Wolves head coach Chris Finch.

Collin Gillespie hit the game-winning shot in the final seconds as the Suns overcame an eight-point deficit to beat the Timberwolves in NBA Cup action on Friday.

The Suns led by as many as 25 points in the first half. The Kings (5-14) pulled within eight points in the third quarter and fourth quarter, but Phoenix answered their latest surge with an 8-0 run to take a 102-86 lead with 5:53 left in the game.

The explosive guard missed the team’s first eight games before making his season debut Nov. 6 against the Los Angeles Clippers. He delivered a 29-point performance, hitting six 3s, the most in a Suns debut, in Phoenix’s 115-102 victory.
