A chatbot created by Elon Musk’ s artificial intelligence company launched into an antisemitic tirade Tuesday and invoked Adolf Hitler, days after Musk touted updates that would reduce its reliance on mainstream media sources and train it on information that is “politically incorrect,” our colleague Faiz Siddiqui reports.
Elon Musk on Wednesday unveiled Grok 4, a new version of his X platform's AI chatbot. The update comes a day after the bot posted antisemitic content on the social media network. Musk introduced the new model in a livestream on X late Wednesday, calling Grok 4 "the smartest AI in the world."
A large language model that is integrated into X, Grok acts as a platform-native chatbot assistant. In several posts—some of which have been deleted but have been preserved via screenshot by X users—Grok parroted antisemitic tropes while insisting that it was being “neutral and truth-seeking.”
Elon Musk's X has taken the automated account for Grok, its AI chatbot, offline after it spent Tuesday afternoon pushing antisemitic narratives.
We are aware of posts made by Grok and are actively working to remove the inappropriate posts,” Musk's company said.
