UNLV quarterback Matthew Sluka has decided to sit out the rest of the season over a $100,000 NIL payment that was promised but never paid after he agreed to transfer to the Rebels from Holy Cross, Sluka’s agent told The Associated Press on Wednesday. “I think there was some kind of breakdown in communication,” Bob Sluka, Matthew’s father, told AP.

Mike Palm, the VP of Operations for Circa, the D, and Golden Gate Casinos in Downtown Las Vegas, offered $100,000 in NIL money to keep Sluka on the team after the quarterback quit this week in the wake of not receiving the $100,000 he said had been promised by a UNLV assistant coach.
