As major 3 Hurricane Helene barreled toward Florida on Thursday (Sept. 26), the National Hurricane Center identified a new disturbance in the Caribbean with the potential for tropical development. The low-pressure disturbance was given a low (20%) chance of tropical development over the next seven days in a similar area where Helene formed days earlier.
