Reason for this is because the revenue model sucks: People want free viewing, but they don't want to watch ads, which begs the question, "How do you want the video delivery company to at least break even, let alone make money?"

No. YouTube doesn't want you to stop using their service, they want to scare or annoy you into allowing ads or paying from premium.
