Jul 14, 2024 · Still, there are Russian River swimming spots perfect for tubing trips, taking nature walks, or even having a barbeque. No matter what you want to do, I’m pretty sure you’ll find the perfect outing destination below.

Sunset Beach is a destination for summer fun on the Russian River. Swimming, sunbathing, picnicking and paddling are favorite warm-weather activities. Fishing, birding, and wildlife viewing are popular activities year-round.

Swimming, fishing, or relaxing along the banks of the Russian River – known locally as simply “The River” – gives visitors a chance to splash down in the middle of Sonoma County’s outdoor playground.

The Russian River runs for 110 miles in total and has a basin of almost 1,500 square miles in total. It begins in the Laughlin Mountains not too far from the city of Willits and flows out into the Pacific Ocean at Jenner.

Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach offers access to the Russian River for wading, swimming, paddling and sunbathing and also features shady picnic areas, lawns, a parcourse/fitness circuit and restrooms.

Swimming is a popular activity in our parks at beaches on the Sonoma Coast, the Russian River, and Spring Lake. Lifeguarded beaches can be found at Spring Lake Regional Park and Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach.

Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach offers a summer swimming beach on the Russian River as well as picnic areas, lawns, a par course, and restrooms. From July through Labor Day, a seasonal dam creates a calm swimming area just south of the historic, steel-truss Memorial Bridge, and the beach is staffed daily with lifeguards.

Swim, wade, and splash in the Russian River on this great sandy beach. The swimming area (created by a temporary dam) will be open July 1 to Labor Day. This recreation park, which opens at 7:00AM, has lifeguards, areas for picnics, clean restrooms, volleyball and BBQ pits.
