My doc who is internationally known and at a major Cancer center has left the decision up to me. I have been on an AI for 17 years as my only treatment after chemo , surgery,and radiation. I hope others who have 10 years will have something to contribute either from their experience or from what their physicians have told them.

I just met with a new oncologist after the retirement of my previous one. I have been on an Aromatase Inhibitor for six years with worsening bone loss. Taking Fosamax. The new oncologist suggests switching to Tamoxifen. Total treatment time would be 8 years vs. target of 7 if I stay on AI. Has anyone had or considered making the switch?

So I chose to do ovarian suppression with an AI rather than Tamoxifen. I've now completed my first five years of treatment, and it's become obvious that my family has a strong history of uterine cancer. In 2018 when I saw my gynecologist, I mentioned the pain I felt in my treated breast. She sent me for a diagnostic mammogram and US.

Forgive me if this has been discussed before. I have been taking Turmeric for years for its anti-inflammatory benefits. I have researched whether it is safe to use when you have breast cancer and especially on an AI (Anastrozole in my case) and I have found many conflicting studies that say no to and to take it as it can prevent breast cancer.
