The hook of hamate pull test evaluates for hamate fractures as a cause of wrist pain. The examiner positions the patient’s wrist in full ulnar deviation with the fingers flexed, then applies a pulling force to the ring and pinky fingers while the patient resists. This maneuver places stress on the flexor tendons that course over the hook of the hamate.
