This is what a 4-year-old White Oak (Quercus alba) tree looks like! I planted this one in my backyard in the spring of 2021 from an acorn that I collected from a local, wild tree. This year was its best year for growth by far - it grew about 31 inches or 0.75 meters! It’s now about 5’ or 1.5 meters tall! Check out @pabigtrees for more! The Post Oak is a native oak to the Eastern US, from central Texas up to parts of New England. It is not too common here in Pennsylvania, and is mostly found on dry ridge tops and barrens. Its drought tolerance is quite impressive! It is more of a medium-sized oak that rarely exceeds

Planting a tree may seem intimidating, but the reward is worth it. Oaks, specifically Garry’s Oak (Quercus garryana), Black Oak (Quercus kelloggii), and Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia) are a wonderful addition to any California yard. Their leaves change color in the winter and spring, they’re drought tolerant, grow to 25 feet to offer immense shade, and provide a home for wildlife. Find all the tips and resources on where to find native oaks near you, how to plant them, and design inspiration
